Every Alvies boot is named for someone

Alvies, Austin 5 min read

Most boots have a model number. Every Alvies boot has a person.

Each one is represented by an Austin figure, and each ambassador chooses a charity that part of the boot’s sales goes to. Alvies calls this the Kicks Back program. Picking a boot means picking a cause too.

The Lamar

The original Alvies boot. It is inspired by the boot collection the founder inherited from his grandfather, Alvie Junior, a WWII veteran and lifelong boot guy. Proceeds go to The Iron Freedom Foundation, which runs outdoor experiences and a support community for veterans.

The Sixth Street

Represented by Gordy Quist of The Band of Heathens. Supports The SIMS Foundation, which provides mental health and recovery services to musicians.

The Rainey

Represented by Stacy Franklin, co-owner of Franklin Barbecue. Supports Les Dames d’Escoffier Austin, which advances women in food and hospitality.

The Guadalupe

Represented by Laurie Gallardo, host and producer at KUTX. Supports Project ATX6, which shares Austin music with the world.

The Congress

Represented by Juan Meza, owner of Juan in a Million. Supports Con Mi MADRE, which helps young Latinas and their mothers through education.

The Trinity

Represented by Kendall Antonelli, founder of Antonelli’s Cheese Shop. Supports the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Her motto: do good, eat good, buy cheese.

The Manchaca

Represented by Ben Sweat, Sporting KC defender and former Austin FC player. Supports The Conservation Alliance, which protects wild places in North America.

The Comal

Represented by guitarist and songwriter Eric Tessmer. Supports Austin Pets Alive!, which has saved more than 80,000 animals.

The BFG II

Co-designed with Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top. Billy and the founder built it together rather than putting a name on an existing boot. His tagline, Have Mercy, is stitched into the heels. Part of every sale goes to the National Independent Venue Foundation. It is a limited edition with no restock.

The Perry Lane

A knee-high women’s boot with no single ambassador. The idea is that every woman wearing it is one. Named for the Menlo Park neighborhood known for its writers and rule-breakers.

The Shoal Creek

The newest boot. A sharp square toe instead of the classic J-toe, a 1.5-inch heel, and weathered leather that looks lived-in from day one.
